Joe Mixon

POSITION: RB/DB

THE STAT LINE: Mixon, who was recently honored for his selection to the U.S. Army All-American game, rushed for 298 yards and scored six touchdowns in a 48-21 victory over Castro Valley. Mixon scored five touchdowns in the first 18 minutes of the game and gained 201 of his yards in the first half. He rushed for five scores and returned a punt for another.

Jonathan Sturholm

SCHOOL: Mt. Eden

SPORT: Football

YEAR: Senior

POSITION: Quarterback

THE STAT LINE: Sturholm completed 27 of his 41 passes for 420 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions as the Monarchs defeated Mt. Diablo 48-40 in a nonleague game.

Lauren Brown

SCHOOL: Moreau Catholic

SPORT: Volleyball

YEAR: Senior

POSITION: Middle hitter

THE STAT LINE: Brown had nine kills and two blocks in a Mission Valley Athletic League win over Washington, then had 13 kills and five blocks in a league victory over Kennedy. She also had 48 kills and 18 blocks in five matches at the Concord Invitational.

Brighie Leach

SCHOOL: Campolindo

SPORT: Cross country

YEAR: Junior

THE STAT LINE: Leach won the girls Division III race at the Stanford Invitational, leading the Cougars to the team title in the division. She completed the 3.1-mile course in 18:17 and was 17 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

Honorable mention

BOYS

KEELAN DOSS, Alameda, football, Sr. -- Doss starred both offensively and defensively in the Hornets' 55-24 win over Hillsdale-San Mateo. He caught eight passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns, returned an interception 90 yards for a TD, forced and recovered a fumble, and also blocked a point-after attempt.

MICHAEL WHITE, Amador Valley, football, Sr. -- White ran for 169 yards and two touchdowns as the Dons beat Monte Vista in their East Bay Athletic League opener. White's 2-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter rounded out the win. White has 505 yards and seven touchdowns this season.

GIRLS

KATHERINE CLAYBAUGH, San Ramon Valley, volleyball, So. -- The outside hitter had 65 kills and 46 digs overall to help the Wolves win the Concord tournament title. She had three aces, 14 kills, two blocks and 12 digs as Wolves beat Amador Valley in their EBAL opener.

ROXIE WIBLIN, Berkeley, volleyball, Fr. -- Wiblin had 14 kills in the Yellowjackets' 25-13, 26-24, 25-18 victory over Piedmont in West Alameda County Conference-Foothill Division play. She also had 13 kills in a 25-12, 25-17, 25-22 nonleague win over Deer Valley.
