The Antioch teen was captured on tape at Antioch's WalMart and later arrested and charged with the murder of an 83-year-old man who was beaten and left for dead near Orchard Supply on Lone Tree Way.

MARTINEZ -- A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder and robbery in Contra Costa County juvenile court in the beating death of an elderly man attacked outside an Antioch hardware store.

Antioch police say the boy brutally beat 83-year-old Patrick Chang on May 18 during a robbery in front of an Orchard Supply Hardware Store on Lone Tree Way. Chang, of Antioch, died from his injuries June 11.

The teen was held in juvenile hall on robbery charges for months while the Contra Costa District Attorney's Attorney awaited a full autopsy report. He was arraigned on a murder charge earlier this month.

Prosecutors have declined to share any details about the case, citing laws surrounding juvenile defendants.

The teen remains in juvenile hall. He returns to court for a pretrial conference on Oct. 31.
