LIVERMORE -- Eat your heart out, Roswell.
An alien spacecraft has crashed into the Staton family home in Livermore, and government agents and scientists from nearby Lawrence Livermore Lab have taken over the scene, conducting a full investigation.
But don't call in the Men in Black just yet; it's only the latest haunted house by John Staton, a Silicon Valley mechanical engineer who, along with friends and neighbors, has turned his street into a must-see Halloween destination. For the past 14 years, thousands of trick-or-treaters have turned out to experience Staton's creations, including a creepy skeleton pirate ship, a lava-spewing Mount Doom, hungry dinosaurs on the loose and ferocious dragons.
This year, visitors will walk through plastic-lined hallways to find scientists and the spaceship's cockpit. Who knows what might be inside?
Staton's haunted house is free and will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 1312 Winding Stream Drive, Livermore.
