ANTIOCH -- As Councilman Gary Agopian continues his battle with inoperable brain cancer, a group of residents is holding a benefit on his behalf later this month.

The event will be begin at 5 p.m. Nov. 21 at the arena at the ranch home of Jack and Donna Roddy, 5601 Chadbourne Road, Brentwood.

Festivities will include a social hour, tri-tip barbecue, social hour, raffle, live country music and dancing. Tickets are $50.

All proceeds will go to help the Agopian family to defray out-of-pocket medical expenses and support the National Brain Tumor Society's research to find a cure, organizers said.

Agopian, 56, a councilman since 2010 and former school trustee, has been diagnosed with stage four gliopastoma, an aggressive form of cancer.

He has been undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments for about a month.
