ANTIOCH -- A busy thoroughfare in Antioch's northeast area will be closed next week as construction continues on an overpass widening project.
Wilbur Avenue will be closed between Minaker Drive and Viera Avenue for five working days starting Nov. 18 so that concrete can be poured on a new bridge deck, according to a city news release.
The $10.3 million project, approved by city leaders last October, will seismically retrofit the existing Wilbur Avenue bridge that crosses over the BNSF railroad track and widen it from two to four lanes.
Traffic will be detoured down Cavallo Road and Viera.
Drivers should expect delays.
