ANTIOCH -- Drivers headed east through Antioch on Highway 4 during the overnight hours this week should brace for delays.
All lanes of the freeway in that direction between the Somersville Road/Auto Center Drive and Lone Tree Way/A Street exits will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. overnight Tuesday and Wednesday, according to a Contra Costa Transportation Authority news release.
The contractor for the project to widen Highway 4 from four to eight lanes will be setting precast concrete deck panels on the new Highway 4 bridges over Contra Loma Boulevard/L Street and pouring concrete for the new eastbound bridge over Lone Tree/A.
Additionally on the local streets, all lanes of Contra Loma/L will be closed at the freeway undercrossing from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight Tuesday through Friday.
Construction work this week also calls for some overnight single lane closures on Highway 4 both eastbound and westbound through Pittsburg and Antioch and ramp closures at Loveridge Road, Somersville/Auto Center and Contra Loma/L.
Farther to the southeast, there will be single lane closures in both directions of Highway 4 between Laurel Road and Sand Creek Road during the day from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
