Campbell police arrested a 27-year-old man in Long Beach who they believe stabbed an acquaintance last weekend after an argument.
According to police, Gustavo Dasilva was found at a girlfriend's home early Thursday and was arrested and brought back to Santa Clara County, where he faces a charge of attempted murder.
Campbell police Capt. Dave Carmichael said Dasilva is from Brazil and "we do know he was fleeing the Northern California area, but don't know what his ultimate plans were."
Carmichael said the 27-year-old victim was stabbed in the torso in front of a residence on the 300 block of N. Central Avenue around 9:15 Saturday. He was taken to a hospital and treated for a wound not considered to be life threatening.
Carmichael said they are still investigating what spurred the stabbing, but it is not believed to be gang related.
"We know they knew each other, and there was some kind of altercation," Carmichael said.
Dasilva is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
