LIVERMORE -- Drivers are being asked to be extra cautious or to avoid the intersection at Railroad Avenue and P Street after a traffic collision early Wednesday damaged the controls to the traffic signal there.
The traffic signal is expected to be out until at least early next week, until the city finishes rebuilding the foundation that houses the signal controller cabinet and installing a new signal cabinet. Temporary stops signs have been put in place at the intersection, and drivers are asked to proceed with caution and to expect delays, according to a city news release sent out Wednesday.
The traffic accident occurred at 12:22 a.m. when a single vehicle ran into the traffic signal controller cabinet and fled the scene, said Livermore Police Officer Traci Rebiejo. The vehicle and driver were later found and police are still investigating the crash. No one was injured and police have not yet arrested the driver.
