OAKLAND -- A man was shot and killed while in his car at the KFC fast food restaurant drive-through at 73rd Avenue and International Boulevard on Thursday evening, a police spokeswoman said.
Suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, the victim drove his car out of the drive-through, across International Boulevard and the center median and into a building, authorities said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, said police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson.
The man's name, age and hometown were not released, although police described him as being in his 20s.
A woman in the passenger seat also was hit by a bullet, but she was expected to survive, Watson said.
The killing was the 74th in Oakland this year.
Police were called to the area at 6:19 p.m. and were on the scene for several hours investigating. The area is bustling with pedestrian and vehicle traffic and a large crowd gathered behind police tape to watch investigators. Police have not arrested anyone and a motive was not known.
