OAKLAND -- A man was fatally shot Monday morning while sitting in a car at a West Oakland shopping center.
Police were trying to confirm the man's name and age but said he was an Oakland resident.
The shooting happened about 3:14 a.m. in the parking lot of a shopping center in the 700 block of Market Street.
Police said the man was sitting in a parked car when someone from outside the vehicle shot him multiple times.
The man was pronounced dead at Highland Hospital at 4:20 a.m.
Officer Phong Tran said so far police don't have a motive for the shooting and no arrests have been made.
The killing was Oakland's 75th homicide of the year, the same number as last year at this time.
