OAKLAND -- Police say two people who were assaulted and battered by a group of people in downtown Oakland late Thursday are expected to be OK.
The attack happened about 10:30 p.m. on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of Broadway, as the two people walked past the group of suspects, police said. Both of the victims were taken by ambulance to a hospital and were treated for injuries that weren't considered life threatening, although one of the victims did receive serious injuries, police said.
The suspects ran before officers arrived, and police are asking for the public's help in finding them. Police said they believe some witnesses to the crime have not contacted police.
Anyone with information is asked to call 510-238-3426.
