SAN JOSE -- Police have identified a man who was stabbed to death Friday outside a party at a North San Jose office complex as detectives continue to investigate the motive for the attack.

Steve Bangalan, a 30-year-old San Jose resident, was found suffering from at least one stab wound outside an office building in the 1600 block of Oakland Road about 3 a.m., according to police. He was taken to Regional Medical Center of San Jose, where he died from his injuries.

Police say Bangalan had attended a party being held at an office for a firm called The Agency. Detectives are investigating the case, but no motive or suspects have been announced.

The stabbing was the city's 45th homicide of the year, the highest since San Jose recorded 53 in 1991.
