GILROY -- A man died after being shot on New Year's Eve in Gilroy, police said.
Officers were called at 9:33 p.m. Monday to a home at the intersection of Old Gilroy and Alexander streets after receiving reports of shots being fired, said Sgt. Chad Gallacinao.
When officers arrived, they found a 51-year-old Gilroy man who'd been shot multiple times lying in the street, Gallacinao said. He said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a dark-colored sedan was seen speeding from the area after the shooting. It was unknown Tuesday if the car or its occupants were involved in the shooting. Detectives were working to identify the car and its occupants.
