ANTIOCH-- An Antioch man who was killed after being struck by and pinned underneath a car early Saturday has been identified as 25-year-old Lovell Joshua Jr., authorities said.

The vehicle reportedly lost control about 1:40 a.m., struck a tree and came to rest on the sidewalk with Joshua pinned underneath, police said. The driver of the car, identified as Gerald Massey, 28, of Antioch, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter after being extracted from the vehicle on the 3900 block of Delta Fair Boulevard.

Lovell was pronounced dead at the scene, and Massey was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries, police said. No one else was injured in the crash.

No further information was immediately available about the arrest.
