LIVERMORE -- Officials are searching for two suspects involved in a high-speed chase on westbound Interstate 580 Thursday afternoon that reached speeds of 110 mph, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The chase began at 12:41 p.m. when CHP officers tried to pull over a white Porsche on eastbound Interstate 580 near Airway Boulevard in Livermore, Officer Kevin Bartlett said. The car took off at high speed, leaving the freeway at Isabel Avenue and getting back on heading westbound.

Two to three CHP vehicles pursued the car, which had two people inside, for about 19 miles before losing the vehicle near the Castro Valley Boulevard exit, Bartlett said.

The CHP broadcast an alert to the Alameda County Sheriff's office to be on the lookout for the suspects in the Castro Valley area. The vehicle's license plate number is not known.
