PLEASANTON -- A man's body was discovered mixed among the recyclables at the Pleasanton Garbage Service transfer station on Tuesday, police said.
Early indications suggest the death was an accident and authorities are investigating how the man ended up there.
Police received a call from an employee at the station at 3110 Busch Road about 11:45 a.m., who said they had found the body of an adult male among the garbage, Sgt. Maria Munayer said. Pleasanton police, Dublin police and the Alameda County coroner arrived at the station and found the body among some cardboard recyclables.
While no identity has been released and no cause of death has yet been determined, initial investigations suggest his death may have been accidental, Munayer said. Police said the body was somehow brought to the station by a garbage truck sometime Tuesday.
"Right now, it does not look like a crime of violence but ... like a tragic accident," Lt. Brian Laurence said. Officials are not yet sure when or where the man died.
