PINOLE -- Police arrested two men in connection with a Pinole bar stabbing Saturday that seriously injured two of the men involved in the large fight, authorities said.

Officers responded to Pete's Place at 610 San Pablo Ave. about 9:10 p.m. after it was reported that a large fight had broken out, Cmdr. Pete Janke said. Upon arrival, police found that two of the people involved had been stabbed, and they were taken to John Muir Medical Center for treatment.

According to Janke, one of the stabbing victims required emergency surgery shortly after arriving at the hospital. The other was treated and remains in stable condition.

Witnesses to the bar fight described the suspects and their vehicle; an officer located the car on San Pablo Avenue near Crestview Drive minutes later, Janke said. Police arrested Joe Wilkerson, 46, of Fairfield and Frederick Redd, 48, of Oakland.

Wilkerson was treated for cuts to his hands. Both men were booked into County Jail in Martinez, police said.
