An Oakland woman was struck by a stray bullet in a Vallejo apartment Tuesday night, police said.

The victim was shot in her left leg and was taken to an area trauma center for her non-life threatening injury.

Police said there were shots heard at about 6:50 p.m. in the area of Corcoran Avenue and Baylor Drive. About five to six shots were fired, and two or three of them went into the apartment unit through its wooden fencing.

The suspect was only described by eyewitnesses to the police as a black man in his 20s, thin with short cropped hair. It was not immediately known if she was the intended target of the shooting.
