ANTIOCH -- Authorities have identified the man shot and killed outside a hotel early Saturday as Jason Dikes, a 38-year-old transient from the Antioch area, officials said.

Dikes was shot multiple times in front of the hotel in the 500 block of E. 18th Street about 3:40 a.m., police said. The name of the hotel was not released, and it was not clear if Dikes had been a guest there.

Police and paramedics arrived about 3:45 a.m. and tried to resuscitate Dikes, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not release a motive in the killing, and no arrests have been made. The shooting is the third homicide of the year in the city of Antioch.
