SAN JOSE -- A 27-year-old man suspected of shooting his father multiple times at close range on Friday night has been charged with murder, according to court documents.

Police on Wednesday announced Andrew Zumini was arrested on suspicion of murder in the shooting death of his father, 46-year-old Anthony Zumini. Andrew Zumini made his first court appearance on Wednesday and was charged with murder with a firearm enhancement.

According to court documents, a witness told police that Andrew Zumini arrived at his father's apartment complex in the 900 block of Gilchrist Drive at about 9:40 p.m., got out of a vehicle and began firing at his dad. The witness said Anthony Zumini was hit by at least one bullet and fell to the ground.

At that point Andrew Zumini ran toward his dad, stood over his body and fired a number of times at close range, according to the court document. Anthony Zumini was shot at least 8 times and died at the scene.

Police were told Zumini and his dad had an ongoing personal dispute.

Police made an arrest Saturday in that case, the city's 35th homicide of the year.
