LAFAYETTE -- A report of a strong smell of gas in Lafayette Tuesday morning may have been caused by a contractor releasing gas from a pressure line, authorities said.
Authorities in Lafayette received reports around 9:40 a.m. of a strong smell of gas in the area of Glen Road and Nordstrom Lane, prompting police, fire crews and PG&E workers to respond to the scene.
As of 10:15 a.m. the odor of gas had dissipated, police said.
