PINOLE -- A Richmond man shot to death early Sunday outside a Pinole bar was identified Monday as 30-year-old Earl Hamilton.

Hamilton was found shot to death just after midnight outside the Green Lantern Bar at 1907 San Pablo Ave., Pinole police Chief John Hardester said. A bar employee told police the man had been shot multiple times in the strip-mall parking lot by an unknown person.

The employee told police that Hamilton was not a regular at the bar but had been in and out a couple of times. The bar was open for business Sunday afternoon, but no other employees commented.

By Monday afternoon, police had still not pinpointed a suspect or a motive, and continued to investigate various leads brought about by witnesses. The shooting marked the first homicide of the year in the city of Pinole.

"We are actively working a lot of information brought about since the homicide," Hardester said. "We continue to follow up with people at the bar, including people who may have known the victim."

Anyone with information is asked to call Pinole police at 510-724-8950.
