OAKLAND -- A 34-year-old man fatally shot Sunday outside his East Oakland home was identified by police Tuesday as Sylvester Harris.
Harris was shot about 3 p.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of 47th Avenue by a gunman who fled on foot. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Officer Nick Calonge said Tuesday that so far police have not established a motive for the shooting and no arrests have been made.
The killing was Oakland's 36th homicide of the year. Last year at this time there were 44 homicides in Oakland.
