A Bethel Island man was arrested and police are looking for another man after a stolen property dispute turned violent Friday morning.

Contra Costa Sheriff's deputies were called to Taylor and Bethel Island roads about 9 a.m. Friday after four people, reportedly engaged in an ongoing dispute about possible stolen property, got into a fight, said Sgt. Sandra Douglas.

Thomas Federighi, of Bethel Island, and another man reportedly attacked a third man with a billy club and pepper spray. The victim's girlfriend was also hit with a piece of rebar, Douglas said. The two suspects fled.

The female victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The male victim was treated at the scene and released.

Sheriff's deputies later arrested Federighi at his home on the 2500 block of Taylor Road on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon, and assault with pepper spray. Deputies are still looking for the second suspect, Douglas said.

The sheriff's office has responded to other incidents involving this ongoing dispute during the past month, Douglas said.
