Baylor University, Waco, Texas has announced the names of local students who have earned the spring dean's list. They are: Claire Michelle Managan, of Danville, College of Arts and Sciences; Kaitlin L Park, of Pleasanton, Hankamer School of Business; and Emily Adams Pluhowski, of Pleasanton, College of Arts and Sciences.
Kaylie K. Williams of Danville has been named to the honor roll at Phillips Academy, Andover, MA for the spring term.
Keenan Louis Collins Meier was nominated by U.S. Rep. John Garamendi, D-Walnut Creek, and accepted an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., as a member of the Class of 2016. He is the son of Barbara and Carl Meier of Alamo.
Livermore's Commission for the Arts has named the winners of the Livermore Stage 3 Finish Bike Race Photo Contest:
First place went to "Tesla" by Bob Hirschfeld; second place, "Head of the Pack" by Micheli Photography; third place, "Breakaway from Cancer Finish Line" by Jackie Miller; honorable mentions went to "Downtown" by Alexandra Burgar. "Race Finish" by Lori Dempsey and "Balloon Man" by Sonja Nilsen. The first-, second- and third-place winners received cash prizes. All winners will be recognized before the Livermore City Council.
Four students from Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon are the grand prize
KlabLab has awarded Dougherty Valley High School a mobile $10,000 multimedia studio to be used for ongoing creative collaboration and content production at the school. Akbar, Alfonso, Babu and Lim, along with runners-up, received iPads as well.
Jordan Lee Trafton has earned his Eagle Scout award from Troop 277 and Scoutmaster Don Hinton. For his Eagle project Trafton organized a coat drive for St. Vincent de Paul in Walnut Creek and his school. He collected 343 coats, more than double the number that was predicted. He is the son of Beth and Frank of Alamo, and a senior at The College Preparatory School. in Oakland.
Mark Andrew Nathlich, of Troop 874, received his Eagle Scout award at his Court of Honor held at the San Ramon Community Center. For his Eagle Scout project Nathlich enclosed more than 40 feet on one side of a circa-1905 hay barn at the Dublin Heritage Center with about 8-foot-high redwood boards and framing to attach to the existing barn. The enclosure was done to preserve an antique tractor and wagon kept in the barn that was exposed to the outside elements before being enclosed. The tractor is used for hay rides and tours around Dublin Heritage Center. The project involved 195 hours of volunteer work. Mark is the son of Laura and Don Nathlich of San Ramon, and a sophomore at California High School in San Ramon.
Airman Katie L. Wells has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. She us the daughter of Michah and Wayne Wells and a 2011 graduate of Livermore High School. She is in Security Forces working toward the Air Force OSI Program.
