MORAGA -- A top two seed in the North Coast Section Division II playoffs and a top five spot in the East Bay rankings weren't the biggest things at stake in Tuesday night's Diablo Foothill Athletic League showdown between the Campolindo and Dublin boys soccer teams.

The league title was on the line, and it was host Campolindo coming away with a 2-0 win to clinch the DFAL championship.

The Cougars (14-4-4, 9-0-2 DFAL) used a familiar formula to score twice in the first half, as Ryan Donat was on the receiving end of two set pieces.

"It's always great to get the team off to a good start," Donat said. "It's much better to play with the lead early on than to play from behind."

Donat set the tone with a third minute goal on a Preston Kilwien corner kick. The Cougars continued to press, and Donat scored again, this time on a throw in by Will Simmons as the two goals stood up.

The Gaels (17-2-3, 7-2-2 DFAL) were more lively in the second half, and Suliman Khorami presented a challenge to the Campolindo back line, but Jeff Lefcourt stood tall with two great saves to keep the clean sheet.

Seedings for the NCS playoffs will be announced Sunday.
