OAKLAND -- The Bishop O'Dowd High boys basketball team proved it is more than just the Ivan Rabb Show during a 68-36 North Coast Section Division III win over Acalanes on Wednesday at Laney College.

Rabb, a 6-foot-10 junior, had 33 points, nine rebounds and several crowd-pleasing dunks, but it was Juwan Anderson who had a crucial sequence for O'Dowd (25-4) at the end of the second and the start of the third quarter.

Anderson, a 6-1 senior guard, scored 13 points in a 31/2-minute span that helped push the Dragons from a five-point lead at 30-25 to 42-29. His 3-point shot with 5:41 left in the third quarter gave O'Dowd a 12-point lead.

Acalanes (17-12) was down 34-25 at the break as Buster Souza scored 11 of his 16 points in the first half. But O'Dowd allowed just 11 Acalanes points in the final 16 minutes.

The Dragons weren't in any real danger of losing their lead, but the lack of defensive pressure in the first half was worrisome, according to Anderson.

"We had to contain and put better pressure on their guards," Anderson said. "We talked about that at halftime. As for getting some shots, the coaches knew I was hot so I got some chances."

Matt Thomas had 10 points for Acalanes.
