The Livermore-Amador Symphony has announced the winners of its annual Competition for Young Musicians. Dublin High School junior Vivian Sung, who performed the first movement of Schumann's Piano concerto, won the piano category. And Pleasanton's Amador Valley High School senior Young Sun (Angel) Kim, who performed Sarasate's Zigeuner Weisen, Op. 20, won for violin.
Michelle Lemus of Pleasanton, was chosen the Mom of the Match during the recent San Jose Earthquakes game against the LA Galaxy. Lemus was nominated by the Ballistic United Soccer community for her tireless effort and time in the soccer club.
She first became involved with Ballistic United in 2007 when her son, Joseph (then 5), enrolled into the "Kick Start" program . In 2009, she became an age group coordinator. In 2010, she took on the role as academy manager.
Her family received four VIP tickets to the game, including VIP Parking, access to the VIP Tent and field access during warm-ups. The Mom of the Match announcement was made before the game started.
Haley Bean, 17, the Foothill High School Varsity Spirit Squad captain, marched with other spirit squad members from across the country in the Spirit of America group in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The Pleasanton student was invited along with several hundred other varsity captains nationwide to participate.
The group also visited New York City landmarks such as the Empire State Building and saw the Rockettes Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall.
