DUBLIN -- The former president of a Dublin elementary school's Parent Faculty Club was arrested on charges of embezzlement and grand theft Wednesday after investigators found that she pocketed funds from the organization, police said.

Jaylene Leslie, 44, was arrested on a felony arrest warrant Wednesday after members and of the Parent Faculty Club at Dougherty Elementary School reported to Dublin police in November 2012 that they suspected she had embezzled funds from the organization between July 2011 and August 2012, Lt. Nate Schmidt said.

When the club elected a new board in July 2012, the new officers consulted an accounting firm to perform an independent audit of the organization's finances and found sizable discrepancies from what was reported, Schmidt said.

Board members contacted police, who began an investigation that month.

The eight-month investigation was completed Wednesday and presented to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, who issued the felony arrest warrant on embezzlement and grand theft charges. She was booked into the Santa Rita Jail, where she was later released on $20,000 bail.
