One of our favorite things about downtown San Jose has, in recent years, been Starlight Cinemas -- the free outdoor fest that brings fun flicks to city streets on Thursday nights from early June through late August.
The program is back for another year, starting Thursday with the family-friendly "Hook," a Steven Spielberg retelling of the Peter Pan tale with Robin Williams as Peter, Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook and Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell. The screening will be held in St. James Park, with pre-movie entertainment starting at 7 p.m.
Among the other films on the program this summer: "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" (July 19, San Pedro Square Market) and "Little Shop of Horrors" (June 28, Post Street between First and Market). And, on Aug. 31, there's the annual Zombie-O-Rama with the film "Shaun of the Dead" at South First and William streets. For a complete schedule, visit www.sjdown town.com/starlight.
