A sea lion rescue is under way at San Francisco's Pier 39 this afternoon.
The Marine Mammal Center has responded to Pier 39's "K-Dock," the area where sea lions congregate on floating wooden platforms, Pier 39 spokeswoman Sue Muzzin said.
It appears that at least one sea lion has become entangled in something that is wrapped around its neck, she said.
Personnel from the Marine Mammal Center are working to help the sea lion, but Muzzin did not yet have details on how the rescue would be carried out.
A spokesman for the center was not immediately available for comment.
