A ferry that provides service between Ryer Island and Rio Vista will be suspended overnight later this month for engine work.
Weather permitting, the Real McCoy II will be closed from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Jan. 28 and 29, so the mechanical work can be done, according to a Caltrans news release.
The 88-foot long Real McCoy II, also known as the Cache Slough Ferry, is powered by a hydraulic propulsion system with 360 degree propellers for steering. The hull's capacity is 80,000 pounds, and it can carry up to eight vehicles.
It is considered an extension of Highway 84.
The Delta ferry normally runs scheduled crossings every 20 minutes, starting on the hour.
During the closure, motorists are advised to use Highway 160 and the J-Mack Ferry along Highway 220.
