In the weekly feature called "e-views," we invite readers to answer a question via email.
Last week's question:
Do you think your city should establish a daytime curfew for students in an effort to cut down on truancy and potential crime? Why or why not?
DEPENDS ON THE school policy. Do they allow students to go off campus at lunch? If so, how would this curfew be enforced?
On the other hand, during school hours, why would students need to be off campus? Yes, I think the curfew is a good idea. This would give a probable cause for police to stop and check on youngsters who may be up to no good given the home break-ins during the daytime.
YES, AND IT is a shame to have to admit it. But work and the economy, and the failure of parents to be parents, has created a sorry situation where society has to step in and become the parents of kids going down a potentially bad road. Without an education, kids have little chance for a good future -- only they don't know it. So, it is important to help keep kids in school be making it difficult for them not to be in school.
SHOULD ANTIOCH ESTABLISH a daytime curfew for students in an effort to cut down on truancy and potential crime? Yes, because it makes sense.
This week's question:
If a commuter ferry came to Antioch, would you use it? Why or why not?
