ANTIOCH -- The East County Veterans group will host a craft fair this weekend, with proceeds going toward its new peer-to-peer resource center.
The boutique will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the center, located on 1023 W. Second St. The fair will include artisans selling jewelry, patriotic crafts and other miscellaneous items.
There is still room for vendors. Tables are $25, or $20 if vendors bring their own tables.
"It's a little way of getting our name out there," said Josie Monaghan, founder of the veterans group.
The center, which opened March 1, provides a place for veterans to gather, hold events such as care package drives, shoot pool and play cards, have weekly dinners, socialize and discuss issues they are dealing with, Monaghan said. The vets used to gather in the back of the group's thrift store on 708 W. Second.
"(The expansion's) been a huge blessing for us. We don't have to move things around anymore. It used to be really tight," she said.
