OAKLEY -- A man was seriously wounded Saturday evening when he was shot on an Oakley street, authorities said.
Deputies were called about 6:30 p.m. to Rhine Court just south of West Cypress Road for a report of shots fired in the area, Contra Costa County Sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said Monday.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from more than one gunshot wound, Lee said.
The man, whose age was not released, was taken by helicopter to John Muir Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries. Lee said the victim was expected to live.
A suspect was arrested a short time later on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Lee declined to identify the suspect or offer any information about a possible motive on Monday.
