Delta gardeners to hold annual plant sale

An East County group of gardening enthusiasts will hold its annual -- and immensely popular -- plant sale this weekend.

Delta Informal Gardeners, otherwise known as DIG, is putting on its 25th annual event Saturday. The fun will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Wolfe Ranch, 700 Creek Road, Brentwood, where the products of club members' green thumbs will make for a colorful show.

The line to get in starts forming early as shoppers try to get a jump on the bargains: Annual flowers in 1-gallon containers will be selling for $1.50; perennials of the same size are $2.50. Specialty plants and succulents are priced individually.
