Kindergarten registration is being accepted now
Antioch Unified School District is currently accepting citywide kindergarten and transitional kindergarten enrollment.
Children 5 years old on or before Oct. 1 are eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2013-14 school year. Children 5 years old on Oct. 2 through Dec. 2 must attend transitional kindergarten or begin regular kindergarten the next year (2014-15). Children who are 5 years old on Sept. 1 through Oct. 1, have the option of attending transitional kindergarten or regular kindergarten.
Enrollment packets for kindergarten or transitional kindergarten are available at your child's school from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To find your child's school, go to www.antioch.k12.ca.us or call 925-779-7500.

Car rally is set for Friday at Liberty High
Classic car owners are invited to show off their wheels from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Liberty High.
The fundraiser for the Brentwood school's auto club will be in the front parking lot, 850 Second St.
Requested donation to participate is $30.
Although classic cars likely will comprise most of the vehicles, anyone with another kind of showy autos, motorcycle, boat or off-road vehicle are also welcome.
Proceeds from the event benefit the club's current project -- converting a 1977 Camaro into a National Hot Rod Association Super Street drag racer.

Fire district now has its own Facebook page
East Contra Costa Fire District has joined the gazillions of organizations on Facebook to offer residents another way of keeping up with the news.
The agency's Facebook page highlights some of the milestones it's observed in recent months such as the reopening of two fire stations and new graduates of its fire academy. The website also includes photos of firefighters in action, stories from the news media, public service announcements, bulletins from East Contra Costa Fire District's board of directors, job openings and links to similar public agencies.
