Discover Art League show at Umpqua Bank
ANTIOCH -- The Umpqua Bank and Discover Art League host an art exhibit through July.
The artwork of Yisehak Fikre-Sellassie (acrylics, oils), Beverly Turner (sculpture), Anna Chunn (watercolor and acrylics) will be shown.
Turner s sculptures have won awards. The fun of capturing in clay human emotions and personality is central to her passion in sculpting and teaching. An artist since 1966, she moved to Brentwood in 2011.
Yisehak Fikre-Sellassie was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He was first inspired by his grandmother, Princess Welete-Israel Seyuom. As a devout Christian, without any formal art education, he produced and dedicated spiritual paintings to the church. Uprooted from his native land and separated from his parents by the 1974 revolution, Yisehak s work reflects a strong feeling for human condition. He works in two- and three-dimensional designs and in a wide variety of mediums.
Chunn began as a fiber artist, painting (dying) silk scarves. Her interest in watercolor was a direct result of painting on silk. For the past couple of years she has been exploring the abstract design, using acrylic and encaustic media, which allows her intuitive instincts to flourish while painting.
The exhibit will run 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays throughout June and July.
