The award-winning documentary "The Blood & The Rose" will be screened this weekend at El Campanil Theatre, 602 W. Second St.

The film will be shown in English at 3 and 6 p.m. Saturday and at the same times on Sunday in Spanish.

The film is being shown as a benefit for St. Rose of Lima Chapter of the Lay Dominicans. In addition to the documentary, the events will feature reflections from dynamic Catholic speakers, including the Rev. Jim Sullivan, Parochial Vicar at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Brentwood, and Dr. Herminio Rios, Cal State Professor Emeritus. Proceeds will benefit the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology.

Recent winner of two Telly Awards, "The Blood & The Rose," directed by Timothy Watkins and narrated by Eduardo Verastegui, tells the story of the spread of Catholicism in the Americas as inspired by the miraculous appearance of the Virgin of Guadalupe to St. Juan Diego.

Ticket prices for adults are $12, and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased in person at Holy Angels Books, online at www.TheBloodandTheRose.com/events, or at the box office of El Campanil Theatre on the day of the event.
