ANTIOCH -- After a successful Fourth of July event downtown, it's now time to clean up.

A neighborhood cleanup will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Rivertown area. Those interested should gather at the parking lot on L Street south of the Antioch Marina and near the railroad tracks.

Volunteers will receive instructions at the site and cleanup equipment if necessary, Antioch police Capt. Steve McConnell said.

Police will facilitate the event but are not assigned to help because of staffing cuts.

Neighborhood cleanups, the 45th one held in Antioch since the program started, are scheduled for the first Saturday of each month, weather permitting.
