BRENTWOOD -- A public park here will be receiving a birthday shout-out this month as part of the city's final outdoor summer concert.

Brentwood officials will celebrate City Park's 125th anniversary by kicking off the season finale of the Starry Nights concert series with cupcakes, a happy birthday singalong, and the dedication of the park's rose garden.

The observances will be 6:15 p.m. Aug. 16 at 710 Second St., Brentwood.

Parking is available in the garage at 100 City Park Way (between City Hall and the community center), and visitors are encouraged to bring blankets and picnic baskets.

The concert will feature the Hipwaders, a California trio that writes and performs catchy tunes for children.

Along with the music Brentwood will hold its annual Play Day, which will feature games and other activities in honor of the city earning the title Playful City USA for the sixth year in a row.

For more information, call the city's Parks and Recreation office at 925-516-5444.
