Opening WEDNESDAY

"Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" (PG): A young demigod and his friends embark on a treacherous odyssey to recover the magical Golden Fleece from the Bermuda Triangle.

"We're the Millers" (R): Forced by his evil overlord (Ed Helms) to bring in a major drug shipment from Mexico, a small-time marijuana dealer (Jason Sudeikis) recruits some friends and neighbors to pose as a middle-class family on a Fourth of July vacation.

Opening Friday

"The Act of Killing" (NR): In this documentary about the Indonesian anti-communist death squads of the mid-1960s, a group of former paramilitary thugs re-enact their crimes on camera.

"Elysium" (R): Director Neill Blomkamp's follow-up to his breakout debut hit "District 9" is another action-heavy sci-fi picture. In the near future, the world's wealthiest 1 percent (led by Jodie Foster) will abandon our ruined planet and move into a mammoth space station orbiting Earth. The people left behind (including Matt Damon) are required to work in factories to keep the satellite running smoothly.
