BRENTWOOD -- With the fall season and colder weather approaching, the play options for toddlers and preschoolers are limited in far East County. So, mom and merchant Renae Gonzalez decided to expand her downtown Brentwood children's boutique into an indoor play destination.

Gonzalez stocked Little Miss Everything on Oak Street with a puppet theater, play kitchen, grocery store, stage and more than 50 dress-up costumes. Her plan was to make it a place where imaginative play could thrive, in addition to continuing to host birthday parties at her shop.

"So many indoor play spaces have closed lately that I think it is important to let people know we have one now," she said. "With fall right around the corner, I want people to know we offer an indoor space to come and play."

The transformation began in March when Gonzalez reorganized the specialty children's clothing and toy store to make room for larger birthday parties and the play area. The play space is now available during the week and features daily activities like open play, art sessions, homework club and dance or tea parties.

"People who know about our activities and events absolutely love them," Gonzalez said.

Drop-in play and a monthly pass are both options for the play area. The monthly Fun Pass is $30 and includes unlimited access to all of the featured activities that month as well as a 10-percent discount on the store's retail items and special rates on additional events, according to Gonzalez.

"My granddaughters love going to Little Miss Everything," said local grandmother Diana Halwig. "It is definitely a perfect place for them to play, learn and enjoy. I also enjoy the little break."

Little Miss Everything also offers customized parties that allow attendees to make individual creations such as shirts and jewelry. Among the children's events hosted there are Brunch with a Princess and festive holiday parties.

The store's merchandise includes clothing, accessories and toys for both girls and boys. Open play takes place at 4 p.m. on weekdays and a full list of events can be found at www.littlemisseverything.com.

Little Miss Everything is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is at 220 Oak St. and they can be reached at 925-513-4700.
