Antioch Veterans Day Ceremony and Parade: Activities begin 9:30 a.m. with a Huey helicopter landing and guest speakers at the Veterans Memorial, Antioch Marina, foot of L Street. Children participate in a program honoring veterans while learning about patriotism and what it means to serve the country. Brentwood's Scout Troop 90 presents colors. Special guest speakers: Congressman Jerry McNerney, Assemblyman Jim Frazier, Contra Costa Supervisor Mary Piepho. and Antioch Mayor Wade Harper. Brentwood The Brentwood Concert Band "A Veterans Day Musical Salute": 7-9 p.m. Nov. 9, Brentwood Community Center, 35 Oak St., Delta Diablo Detachment 1155, Marine Corps League presents colors, patriotic music, including "Armed Forces -- The Pride of America," and fun songs, "Sinatra in Concert." $10; youth 12 and younger are free. Brentwood's Veterans Day observance: Brentwood will celebrate Veterans Day at 10 a.m. Nov. 11 at Veterans Memorial Park, 3000 Balfour Road. Among the participants are the Marine Corps League Detachment 1155, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10789, and American Legion Post 202. Musical tributes and patriotic speeches are planned along with the firing of Civil War-era artillery pieces.
Discovery Bay Blue Star Moms Veterans Memorial Garden Ceremony: 2 p.m. Nov. 11, Slifer Park, New Port Drive, Discovery Bay. The Discovery Bay Garden Club will host a dedication and formal transfer of the Blue Star Veterans Memorial Garden and Stone to the Town of Discovery Bay. Pittsburg Inaugural Veterans Benefit Jam: 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9, California Theatre, 351 Railroad Ave., Pittsburg.
