BRENTWOOD -- Donations of toiletries, clothing, baby items and food are being accepted through Jan. 15 as part of a local Eagle Scout project.

Brentwood Eagle Scout candidate Scott Galbraith wants to help cancer patients and their families through this community project. The Liberty High School senior and Troop 927 Scout was inspired to complete this project because his sister, Carmen Galbraith, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor six years ago.

During his sister's treatment at UCSF, she stayed at the Koret Family House in San Francisco, which provides housing to adolescents with serious illnesses and their families. Among the items that he is collecting are shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, soap, dental floss, mouth wash, toilet paper, diapers, DVDs, video games, towels, gift cards, baby care essentials and new socks, pillows and underwear.

According to Galbraith, he wants to provide comfort and relief to families that have endured situations like the one that his family has been through. The deadline for donations is mid-January.
