CONTRA COSTA COUNTY -- High school seniors and college students in Contra Costa County have a chance to apply for some financial aid starting Tuesday.
"Cash for College" workshops will be held around the county from Jan. 14 through March 1, at which financial aid experts will instruct students and their families on how to apply for a Cal Grant as well as federal aid.
High school seniors who complete an exit survey at one of the workshops and apply for a Cal Grant before the March 2 deadline might receive an additional $1,000 incentive
Cal Grants cover tuition and fees at University of California and California State University.
The grants also are available to community college students and those entering private California colleges.
Students planning to attend a workshop should bring the following:
Non-U.S. citizens should provide an alien registration card, if available

Jan. 22, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Liberty High School, 850 2nd St., Brentwood
Jan. 23, 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Pittsburg High School, 1750 Harbor St., Pittsburg
Jan. 23, 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Freedom High School, 1050 Neroly Road, Oakley
Jan. 25, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Antioch High School, 700 W. 18th St., Antioch
Feb. 3, 5 to 8 p.m. at Deer Valley High School, 4700 Lone Tree Way, Antioch
