Jail and fine follow binge and arrest: Zerma Lundsford is in the county jail to serve a 90-day sentence on a charge of being disorderly and intoxicated about a public place after her arrest Thursday evening and her appearance Friday afternoon before Judge Joe Silva in the Brentwood judicial district.

In addition to the jail sentence she was fined $150.

She was arrested by Officer Robert Abney after creating a disturbance in a Second Street tavern. Earlier, she had thrown a bottle through the window of another tavern, but no complaint was issued when she offered to pay for the damage.

Byron weighs new principal post: Creating a new principals position for the Byron Union School District will be considered by trustees a 7 p.m. today in the Byron School administration building.

The district consists of two campuses -- Discovery Bay School, for primary grade students; and by Byron School for fourth- through eighth-graders. Currently, Superintendent Katherine Himelhoch doubles as principal at Discovery Bay.

Also on the agenda is consideration of a contract with Spectrum Center for Educational and Behavior Development in Walnut Creek.

Himelhoch said the Spectrum Center for Educational Development in Walnut Creek. Himelhoch said Spectrum consultants would observe, assess and create development plans for the district staff to work with specific children showing behavior disorders.

Trustees will also get updates on the district's music programs and on asbestos in school.
