PITTSBURG -- Six individuals and the 1964 football team that went 9-0 will be inducted into the Pittsburg High School Football Hall of Fame at its 14th Awards Banquet on Saturday, May 17 at the Pittsburg Elks Club.

Individual inductees are Joe Dimercurio of the class of 1965, Kevin Moffett (1979), Sal Nicolosi (1981), James Stallworth (1991), Jon Buxton (1992) and Joe Tafoya (1996).

The 1964 football team, which went 9-0, is believed to be the last of five Pirates teams to go undefeated and untied.

That Pittsburg team was also considered to be one of the top two teams in Northern California at that time with Stagg of Stockton.

John Abono of the class of 1966, a former Pittsburg player who was also an assistant football coach for over 30 years, will be honored as a contributor.

There will be a no-host cocktail hour from 4-5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35.
