OAKLEY -- Those who sign up for Oakley recreation division's turbo kickboxing class will vaporize the calories as they punch, kick and twist their way to better health.
Instruction will be 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Thursdays from May 29 through July 17.
No experience is needed, but you must be at least 18 years old. Bring a towel and water -- you're going sweat with this high-energy sport -- as well as comfortable workout shoes.
Cost is $80 for Oakley residents, $90 nonresidents.
While the adults are kickboxing, kids can take one of several weeklong skateboard academies.
The classes are for ages 7 to 11 and are designed for beginning, intermediate and advanced skateboarders.
Sessions run 9 a.m. to noon on weekdays during the following dates: June 9-13, July 7-11, and July 14-18.
Students either can bring their own skateboard, helmet and pads or rent the equipment for a week for $20 with three days' advance notice.
Instruction will give youngsters the confidence to skate around the block or at a skate park.
Cost is $169 for Oakley residents, $179 for nonresidents
