Bay Bridge lights shine in film

A new documentary about the Bay Bridge Lights art installation will be screened at Oakland's Grand Lake Theatre, offering multiple nightly showings starting tonight through May 15; it will also screen at BlueLight Cinemas in Cupertino May 16- 22. "Impossible Light," by first-time San Francisco filmmaker Jeremy Ambers, follows artist Leo Villareal and Ben Davis through their three-year journey to complete the monumental public art project and the world's largest LED light sculpture -- 25,000 sparkle every evening in ever-changing patterns on the cables of the Bay Bridge's western span. Ambers was the proverbial fly on the wall through the mountains of red tape, technical delays and funding issues the Bay Bridge Lights team encountered. For showtimes, go to the theater websites.
